The Conference of Commissioners of Accounts was formed as a Virginia non-stock corporation on November 30, 1995, with the intent of establishing a professional association of its members.
The purpose of this Corporation shall be to enhance the system of fiduciary accountability in the Commonwealth of Virginia and to promote services provided to the public by Commissioners of Accounts in the Commonwealth through education of the general public, the bench and the bar, the study and possible development of standards uniformity for Commissioners, and where appropriate, the promotion of law reform affecting the work of Commissioners.
With Membership eligibility stated as followsOne class of members - Any individual who is a current or retired Commissioner of Accounts, a Deputy Commissioner of Accounts or an Assistant Commissioner of Accounts in Virginia, and who demonstrates that he or she supports the purposes of this Corporation shall be eligible to become a member of the Conference.
Annual Meeting of MembersThe Membership of the Conference meetings annually, normally in April. In addition to conducting annual business of the Conference the annual event includes lunch followed by continuing education program for materials, often including panel and member discussions of common issues faced by Commissioners and best practice considerations.
Board of Directors; Officers and CommitteesThe Conference Board of Directors, Officers and Committees meeting periodically each year, in person, telephonically or virtually to review and discussed current issues, Virginia legislation affecting probate and fiduciary accounting, educational opportunities for its Members and their staff, best practices and uniformity of practice among its members.
The Conference WebsiteIs produced and published by the Virginia Conference of Commissioners of Accounts with two primary goals of:
Providing and continue to develop for it member resources to foster communication and sharing of experience, education, documentation, development of standards, best practices and solutions intended to promote uniformity of practice and the enhancement of services by Commissioners of Accounts related to fiduciary accountability.
Providing resources and information promoting fiduciary accountability including, articles related to fiduciaries responsibilities, assisting with the production of forms, checklists, and educational content. The VaCCOA Directory listings for individual member Commissioners may also provide specific information related to the office of the Commissioner to whom a fiduciary has been referred by the Court.
